If Clause

Ketika kita membuat pengandaian di dalam bahasa Indonesia, kita hanya perlu menambahkan kata jika. Namun di dalam bahasa Inggris ada beberapa aturan dasar dalam membuat kalimat pengandaian. Di dalam bahasa Inggris ada tiga pola kalimat pengandaian, yaitu :

1.  "Pengandaian yang situasinya benar-benar terjadi di masa sekarang"
Ketika kita akan membuat pengandaian tentang suatu hal yang benar-benar terjadi di masa sekarang, kita dapat menggunakan pola kalimat pertama untuk pengandaian tersebut.

2.  "Pengandaian yang situasinya berlawanan dengan kenyataan di masa sekarang"
Jika pengandaian yang ditulis adalah sesuatu yang bertentangan di masa yang sekarang, gunakanlah kalimat pengandaian tipe yang kedua ini.

3.  "Pengandaian yang situasinya berlawanan dengan kenyataan di masa lampau"
Jika kalimat pengandaian yang akan kita buat adalah sesuatu yang bertentangan di masa lampau, gunakan lah tipe yang terakhir ini. Formulanya adalah :

dari pernyataan pengandaian diatas maka sekarang kita bahas tentang rumusnya oke lihat dibawah ini :

1. Rumusnya adalah : If + Subject + Verb 1 + Object, Subject + will/can + Verb 1 + Object
Contoh : If I have enough money, I will buy the concert ticket for us.

2. Rumusnya adalah : If + Subject + Verb 2 + Object, Subject + would/could +Verb 1 + Object
Contoh : If I had a new car, I could travel around the city.

3. Rumusnya adalah : If + Subject + Had + Verb 3 + Object, Subject + would have + Verb 3 + Object
Contoh : If I had visited Japan, I would have seen sakura flowers.

            Type 1

                        Rumus : If + Subject + Verb 1 + Object, Subject + will/can + Verb 1 + Object

1.      If Risky ………(use) glasses, He will look ugly.

(Answer : Uses)

2.       If Zidni’s cow…….. death, Zidni ……….. drink baygon.

(Answer : will)

3.       If Amak …….(be) headache, He  will take oskadon.

(Answer : is)

4.       If Budi ……………(not,study) , he won’t because professor.

(Answer : doesn’t study)

5.       If Sarpu’ah isn’t fat, She ……… look cute.

(Answer : won’t)

6.      If They ……..(come) on time, I …….(talk) to them.

(Answer : come          will talk)

7.      If I ……..(have) time, I …….. (call) on you.

(Answer : have           will call)

8.      We ………(not,go) unless he………..(invite) us.

(Answer : will not       invites)

9.      We ……..(leave) as soon as he………(finish) his coffe.

(Answer : will leave    finishes)

10.   If we……….(decide) to come, we ……….(write) you a letter.

(Answer : decide        will write)

             Type 2

Rumus : If + Subject + Verb 2 + Object, Subject + would/could +Verb 1 +      Object

1.      If you………. (do) this test well, you would get a good mark.

(Answer : did)

2.      Royikin …………..(buy,not) the bike, If it………..(be) very ezpensive.

(Answer : wouldn’t buy          were)

3.      Parjo …………(can,move,not) into the new house, If it ……..(be,not) ready.

(Answer : couldn’t move        weren’t)

4.      Dita leny raffia …………(go) shopping, if she ……..(have) time tomorrow.

(Answer : would go                had)

5.      If we ……….(have) yacht, we ………….(sail) the seven seas.

(Answer : had             would sail)

6.      My brother ……………(reply,not) your sms, if he…….(be) angry.

(Answer : wouldn’t reply        was)

            Type 3

Rumus : If + Subject + Had + Verb 3 + Object, Subject + would have + Verb 3 + Object

1.      If Mr.Tong Khosong ……….(visit) to America, I ……….(watch) his concert.

(Answer : had visited        would have watched)

2.      If I ………..(be) him, I ………..(study) to London.

(Answer : had been           would have studied)

3.      I ………..(go) to Talun, if it …………(be) summer.

(Answer : would have gone          had been)

4.      If he ………..(give) command, I ………….(do) that job.

(Answer : would have given         have done)
